When Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies met with James Roberts Jr., to separate him from his girlfriend Monday afternoon, he wanted to let them know a couple of things:

James Roberts

James Roberts

One, Roberts was from Lake Worth and “knew more people with ‘big guns’ than the Sheriff’s Office,” according to the report.

Second, if deputies continued to “mess with him” they would be janitors by the time he was done with them, authorities wrote in the arrest report.

Monday, deputies were called to the 500 block of Beech Street, in Westgate west of Congress Avenue just north of the Palm Beach International Airport, to a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they found Roberts’ girlfriend, who said they were in a verbal argument and wanted him to leave, according to the report.

That’s when deputies say Roberts, 20, told them he knew people with “big guns.”

Roberts faces one charge of corruption by threat and remains in the Palm Beach County jail on $3,000 bail.

Since 2013, Roberts has been arrested several times for carrying a concealed weapon, delinquent in possession of a weapon, burglary, grand theft, according to county records.
