A Port St. Lucie man is accused of punching another man in the face, then pulling a gun out while the two were in a heated argument over ice slushies, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Artavious Warren, 36, was in an argument Sunday night at an empty lot along State Road 715 with his roommate about “ice slushies” kept in their shared home, the police report states.

During the argument, Warren punched the victim in the face, leaving a cut on his lip. Warren then pulled a chrome handgun from a black backpack, the victim and a witness told police.

Warren admitted to hitting the victim in the face, but denied possessing a firearm, the report states.

Records show that Warren has been sentenced to time in state prison on four occasions since 2003 — twice for driving with a suspended or revoked license, once for felony battery and most recently for possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. He was released from prison in November.

Families of teens in Mangonia Park triple homicide holding fundraiser Friday

More than a year after three teens were gunned down in a Mangonia Park apartment, their families continue to hold out hope to catch their killer. They believe one of the ways to do that is to continue to increase the Crime Stoppers reward.

Friday night, the families of Carley Chapman and her two 17-year-old friends, Se’Sawn “Shawn” Danford and Martavious Brown, who were found shot to death on Aug. 4, 2014, will come together at Pascalli’s Italian restaurant in Loxahatchee for a night of food and music to raise money, according to Paula Stewart, Carley Chapman’s stepmother.

For more than a year after the triple homicide, The Crime Stoppers award remained at only $1,000. That amount was upped to $10,000 in early September because of efforts by the families.

“We’re still going,” Stewart said Thursday.

She said the raised around $3,000 from a yard sale earlier this month in Palm Beach Gardens, but they aren’t done yet.

Randy Chapman, Carley’s father, told The Palm Beach Post that even with all the money raised, he and his family think it will take around $25,000 for someone to come forward with information.

“The more money they can get offered as a reward, maybe somebody will say, ‘You know what? I can make a new life with $25,000,'” Chapman said. “I think that’s the only thing that’s going to make a difference. That’s what we’re shooting for.”

What: “Peace in the Streets” fundraiser to increase the Crime Stoppers award for the Mangonia Park triple murder. Live music and food, 18 and up.
Where: Pascalli’s Italian Restaurant 7070 Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd, Loxahatchee 33470
