A suburban West Palm Beach man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an alleged attack on a woman last week.

Khalid Khalil, 54, is facing charges of burglary with battery, simple domestic battery and violating a pair of restraining orders. On Thursday, he was being held without bail at the Palm Beach County Jail.

Boynton Beach police say that he attacked  a woman on June 16 as she was leaving a dinner engagement at a home on Grove Park Circle. An arrest report does not specify Khalil’s relationship to the woman.

On June 2, a county court judge ordered that Khalil avoid having any contact with the woman, according to a police arrest report.

On the day of the alleged assault, he positioned his Lexus to block the woman’s vehicle. He got of his out of his car, used a spare key to unlock the woman’s vehicle and reached inside, police said. The woman tried to use her cellphone, but Khalil  put her in a headlock and grabbed her arm as he tried to take the phone, according to police.

A security officer was called to the home and Khalil got back into his car and sped off, police said. The security officer reported previously seeing Khalil follow other residents into the community as they entered through the security gate.

The security officer reviewed a photo lineup and identified Khalil as the person who assaulted the woman, police said.
