A suburban Delray Beach father and son are facing charges after they allegedly stabbed another man Monday night during a dispute over a drug deal.

Deputies arrested David Weinstein, 68, and his son Michel R. Weinstein, 29, on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Both men remained in jail Tuesday night in lieu of $10,000 bail.

The altercation happened shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the Kings Point community, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to probable-cause arrest affidavit, a 20-year-old man who also lives in the community told deputies he went to see Michael Weinstein to collect money he was owed from a drug deal. David Weinstein allegedly came outside and approached the alleged drug dealer with a barbecue fork.

The man left and told the younger Weinstein he would come back later to collect his money. He did, this time with his girlfriend accompanying him, the report said. The elder Weinstein reportedly opened the door and quickly slammed it when he saw who was there. Moments later, the Weinsteins both came out carrying knives, the report said.

The girlfriend got away, but the father and son caught up to the 20-year-old and began attacking him, deputies said.  The alleged victim told deputies he believed he had been stabbed during the altercation and tried to use his knife in self-defense, only to have the father and son take it away.

The affidavit does not indicate whether the injured man required medical treatment.
