A Boynton Beach man is accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend with a gun Sunday — a threat the victim took to heart after spending two months in the hospital the last time he shot her, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Eric Tavarous Pinkney Jr., 25, was arguing with his ex-girlfriend in her apartment in unincorporated West Palm Beach at around 11 a.m. and pulled out a gun, she told police.

“Don’t make me do it to you again,” he said, although he never pointed the gun directly at the victim, she told police. The victim said she feared for her life because Pinkney had shot her once before, the report states.

In May, police were called to the Travelodge hotel on West Blue Heron Boulevard after the victim, who was in a relationship with Pinkney at the time, was shot in the buttocks by him, according to police. The victim told police Sunday that she spent two months in the hospital recovering.

A witness to the shooting in May overheard Pinkney saying, “It’s an accident. I am sorry, baby. It’s an accident.”

Records show Pinkney was sentenced to time in state prison on two occasions.

Pinkney served two years in prison beginning April 2010 for robbery and aggravated battery. He was back in prison in January 2014 after being convicted of two counts of attempted burglary and one count of grand theft. He was released in September after serving less than eight months.

Pinkney is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He awaits $50,000 bail in Palm Beach County Jail.
