A 24-year-old Lake Worth man faces multiple charges after he allegedly tossed a potted plant at a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy last weekend.
Two deputies responded Saturday night to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue South in Lake Worth after receiving calls that Wilmer R. Suazomontoya was upset and breaking windows in the area.
The deputies arrived and found Suazomontoya carrying two potted plants., according to an arrest report. He allegedly threw one of the plants at a deputy as the deputy exited his vehicle. The plant missed the deputy by 3 feet, the report said. The deputy’s colleague reported that he used “reasonable and necessary force” in deploying a Dart Firing Stun Gun to prevent Suazomontoya from attempting another attack.

Suazomontoya was taken to JFK Medical Center for medical clearance. He was later charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law-enforcement officer, two counts of battery on law-enforcement and one count of criminal mischief.
A 60-year-old man who lives in the apartment complex with his wife told investigators he heard yelling and a loud bang on his front door. The man went to investigate the noise and found Suazomontoya throwing his plants.
It was not clear what prompted the alleged act. Suazomontoya was being held Wednesday in lieu of $21,000 bail.
