Julio Anderson is facing a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly struck a man and a woman with a metal stick during the confrontation Wednesday night inside Dreher Park. Anderson, 54, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

The victims said they were walking through the park when Anderson began yelling profanities at them and approached them with the metal stick. The man was hit in the back of the head and the woman sustained a welt on her arm when she put up her arm to defend herself, the report states. They told police of prior encounters with Anderson.

Anderson sustained a laceration under his right eye after he was punched by the female victim, police said.

Anderson told West Palm Beach police that he was sleeping when the male victim attempted to steal his radio. But a witness told police he saw Anderson attack the pair away from the area where he sleeps, the report said.

Both injured individuals were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.
