Two Delray Beach police officers seized three guns from a 23-year-old man who ditched his car and ran during a traffic stop this month, city police said Monday.
The officers, John Woods and Danny Ferreiro, were patrolling near Rainberry Woods Road at about 4 a.m. May 12 when they saw a white
Nissan leaving the area. They pulled over the Nissan and the driver, Jean Estache, of Boynton Beach, abandoned the car and one passenger and dropped a semi-automatic handgun while fleeing, police say.
The gun, a Jimenez Arms 9 mm, did not have a magazine in it but had a bullet in the chamber “ready to shoot,” police said in a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Officers caught Estache moments later. In the Nissan, they found two more handguns — a stolen Ruger .380 caliber and a Phoenix Arms .22 caliber. Officers also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Estache faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
