An Acreage woman was arrested in a neighborhood park after she tested above the state’s legal limit for intoxication with five children in her pickup, two of them in the bed of the truck, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says.

Kayla Marie Bragdon, 27, had her three children and her sister’s two children, all under the age of 12, in the truck when she was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, the arrest report said.

Two witnesses at Citrus Grove Park, south of Northlake Boulevard and east of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, reported Bragdon after she put the truck in park and revved its engine so the wheels would spin in place. She told investigators that the children asked her to make the wheels spin, the report said.

The spinning wheels caused gravel to hit a nearby car, causing damage, the report said.

Bragdon was slurring her speech and had bloodshot eyes when deputies arrived. She failed the roadside sobriety tests and blew a 0.09 on a Breathalyzer test, deputies say.

There was a blue cup filled with “a blue punch-type liquid that smelled of a strong alcoholic additive” inside the car. In the bed of the truck, there was a cooler that also contained “vodka on ice with the blue punch mixer,” the report said.

Brangdon faces charges of driving under the influence and child abuse. She was released from the Palm Beach County Thursday on a court supervision program.
