An employee at Auracal Senior Home Care in Boynton Beach is accused of stealing a credit card and diamond rings from a 90-year-old in her care, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Sasha Rhudd Winston, 30, was an aide to a 90-year-old woman living in suburban Boynton Beach in late October, detectives say. The woman noticed Winston rummaging through her purse, then noticed her Discover credit card missing, she told detectives. She contacted her credit card company and found that two charges were made without her consent, the sheriff’s office reports.
The woman later noticed her diamond wedding ring, worth $2,500, and engagement ring, worth $10,000, missing from her belongings. She contacted the sheriff’s office to make a report.
Detectives found that the Discover card had been charged at a Boynton Beach Publix and used surveillance footage to identify Winston, the arrest report states.
Winston’s manager at Auracal Senior Home Care, on Gateway Boulevard just west of Interstate 95, identified her in still taken from the footage.
When detectives arrested Winston Friday, she denied stealing the jewelry and using the credit card, the report states. She faces charges of grand theft, exploitation of the elderly, larceny of a credit card and forgery.
She was released from Palm Beach County Jail Saturday night on $24,5000 bail.
