A West Palm Beach man was arrested after a 15-year-old girl gave birth to his child and he admitted to detectives to having a relationship with her since she was 12 years old, West Palm Beach police report.
Rene Perez, 23, was arrested Friday on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and child cruelty. Police say a 15-year-old girl gave birth Aug. 26 at St. Mary’s Medical Center and told the Department of Children and Families that she was in a relationship with Perez, an arrest report states.
Perez told detectives in early September that he and the teen lived together and all sexual interactions were consensual. The relationship began three years ago when the girl was 12 years old, Perez told detectives.
Police collected DNA samples for a paternity test and determined that Perez was the father of the child, the report states.
Perez, who has no prior criminal history in the county, is being held at Palm Beach County Jail on $50,000 bail.
