An alleged case of road rage Wednesday landed a West Palm Beach man in jail, according to an arrest report.
Perfecto Jesus Acierna is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting a $7,500 bond Thursday.
Acierna, 62, is accused of pointing a BB gun at a 19-year-old man while driving east on 10th Avenue North.
The 19-year-old man told Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies that he accidentally cut off Acierna’s pick-up after pulling out of a parking lot at the intersection of 10th Avenue North and Kirk Road.
Acierna reacted by cutting in front of the accuser’s vehicle and hit the brakes, the report said. When both vehicles pulled up to a light at 10th Avenue North and Congress Avenue, Acierna allegedly waved a 9mm pistol at the 19-year-old man, the report said.
After receiving a 911 call from the victim, deputies located Acierna at South Congress Avenue and Summit Boulevard and pulled him over. They found a 9mm replica BB gun in between the driver’s seat and center console, the report said.
Acierna admitted to deputies he pointed the gun, but only after the 19-year-old man pointed a gun at him, the report said. There is no indication on the arrest report that the accuser had a gun.
Asked by deputies why he pointed the gun, Acierna replied that he “wanted to scare” the other man.
