WEST PALM BEACH — An argument over a posting on Facebook prompted a man to threaten his sister with a gun this week, city police said.

Officers arrested Jermaine A. Gulley, 32,  Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 bail.  Gulley and his sister were in the kitchen  at their home in Briar Bay on Tuesday evening when they began to argue about Facebook, police said.

Gulley allegedly slapped his sister’s cellphone out of her hand and told her he was going to his car to get his gun. His sister saw him go outside and retrieve a revolver, police said.

Fearing for her safety, the woman reportedly told Gulley she also had a gun. Gulley put his gun in his front pocket, walked inside the home and his sister quickly left the scene, police said.

Officers responding to the home allegedly found Gulley in the back yard with the gun. He was chased back into the residence before being arrested.  Gulley previously was convicted of two felony charges and is prohibited from owning a gun, police said.
