A West Palm Beach man is in the Palm Beach County Jail after he allegedly broke into his former employer’s home in July and stole several expensive items, according to an arrest report.
Steven Leif Alexander is facing charges of burglary and grand theft between $300 and $5,000. Alexander, 35, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $13,000 bail.
The alleged burglary took place between July 29-31 on the 3200 block of Floral Avenue in West Palm Beach, police said.
The homeowner told police that the items taken from the house included a $30,000 Thai silk rug and $20,000 in gold coins. The owner also said that Alexander was his ex-employee who had keys to the property and knew the value of the items inside the home.
A search warrant was issued after detectives developed probable cause to believe some of the stolen property was being kept inside Alexander’s home, according to the report. Several items taken from the home on Floral Avenue were found in Alexander’s residence, police said.
